Surprisingly good. - Rated
Surprisingly better than I anticipated. This is exactly like reading `Ugly Betty'. Therefore if you enjoyed that television series then this will be the book for you. The characters are brilliant; a mixture of shallow and selfish from the magazine with caring and thoughtful from the lead character's world.

In walks Andrea, a young girl, not long out of college with the world at her feet. Her dream job would be to work for The New Yorker but she has to work her way up. A junior job becomes available at Runway magazine and the turbulent year in her life begins.

We are introduced to all the people in her life. Some of these are significant, connected to life changing situations whilst others take a lesser role in her life. Whatever their involvement they do eventually lead to Andrea working out who she is.

A quite unbelievable life in some respect yet all the events could occur within your own, just on a different scale. An enjoyable (and as I've said surprising) read. Having not seen the film I can't compare the novel to that, however I generally find the films are often different to the books in some major ways! I'd be interested to read more by this author; however I hope it isn't samey.
